How to Choose the Right Set of Tyres for your Car

These days, there are thousands of car tyres available, but choosing the right is quite a daunting task. Having a good set of tyres has a considerable effect on different factors like acceleration, handling, steering, and braking.

Since car tires need to be replaced every three or four years, here’s a perfect guide that will help you choose the best car tyres in India that suit your driving needs perfectly.

1. Choose the Right Size

If you want to give the best to your beloved drive, then it’s important for you to have the right tyre size. To find out the right size, it is necessary to understand the abbreviation printed on the tyres, like 334/55 R 15, where 334 (mm) is the width of the tread on the tyre, while 55 percent is the height of the sidewall. Talking about the other terms, R is denoted as the Radial construction and 15 inches is the rim diameter of the wheel.

2. Tread Pattern

There is no arguing with the fact that the right tread pattern is quite helpful, especially when you’re buying for wet conditions. It is important that the tyre tread pattern helps to channel out water away from the contact patch between the tyre and the road.

Talking about the types, there are three types of tread pattern, i,e, Conventional, Uni-Directional, and Asymmetric. Starting with the first one, a conventional tread pattern allows you to mount it on the rim. Secondly, the Uni-Directional tread comes with a dedicated marking which helps to indicate the rotation in a specific direction. In addition, these tyres are usually more effective in controlling tyre noise. Lastly, the Asymmetric type offers a good grip especially on wet roads and at the same time, good handling at high speed.

3. Tyre Quality

It’s important for you to take a look at the rubber compound used to manufacture the tyre. This element helps to determine the characteristics of treadwear and tyre’s traction. Make sure you don’t go with the tyres that have been lying in stock for over a long period. Always keep this in mind that you must invest in the right set of tyres from a reputed manufacturer that gives you warranty as well.
